Hello, good morning, good evening – whatever the right acknowledgment is for you as you’re reading this.
I have been quiet on the post front for a variety of reasons. I want to post something, but my content just isn’t flowing like I would like. In large part, it’s due to my job(s). I work in education as a Speech-Language Pathologist and I’m overloaded without enough time to do my job. I bring it home and it leaves no time for blogging…and that’s a bummer.
I had my partner’s family visiting this past weekend, my partner’s friend and fiance is coming in this weekend, it’s my family’s Thanksgiving the weekend after that, then I travel to NYC the weekend after that. Then all of a sudden it’s Christmas and I’ll be in Florida. I’m literally just booked solid and I feel like I’m losing my mind.
I’d rather post no content than half-hearted content.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.
So here we are. Are the numbers on my blog suffering? Yep.
Am I meeting my monthly goals? Nope.
Am I still working toward my long-term goals? Somewhat.
So I wanted to post a little about what is going on in my world over here in Chicago. Juggling a full-time job, a part-time job, and an “as needed” job + a blog is not easy. I didn’t think starting and running this site would be a piece of cake, but I 100% did not realize how much work goes on behind the scenes.
Writing + Editing + Editing Pictures + SEO + Networking + Marketing + Pitching yourself to brands/companies + Keeping up with social media
So, here’s what I’ve got planned in terms of travel for the next couple months…
New York City, NY
Over Thanksgiving, I will be traveling to NYC to visit my partner’s sister. And the best part about it….. I’M WALKING IN THE MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE!
Talk about a dream come true. I literally cannot handle my excitement, but apparently I have to. I find out on 11/08 what balloon I will be handling.
I’ll be in NYC for 3 nights. It will be a whirlwind, but I’m so incredibly excited.
My mom and step-dad live in Florida, so I will be traveling to their home for Christmas. I’ll be driving from Chicago, so it will be a 19 hour ride with my puppy. I plan on making some stops in Tennessee and maybe Georgia – or wherever I decide I want to take a detour.
I’ll be spending about 4 or 5 nights in Florida with my family. Who knows what we’ll end up doing, but the warm weather will be very welcomed coming from a Chicago winter.
In January I finally get to travel to Austin to visit my best friend! She moved to Texas over a year ago and I haven’t been able to visit her new home yet. I’m so incredibly excited to spend a long weekend with her, her new husband, and her new puppy!
This will be the first time I travel to Texas. Somehow I’ve never made it to the Longhorn State despite having family somewhere there. Again, no idea what we’ll actually do, but I’m sure there will be plenty of adult beverages and food.
That’s where I’m at right now.
In terms of my blog, I have one guest post lined up from a rock star blogger. I have probably five new posts in draft mode that I’m slowly chipping away on. I will also have a lot of great content coming up with the holiday travel.
So, here I am listening to “What Ifs” by Kane Brown banging out this quick post before I finish up the work paperwork I’m behind on from October. If anyone has some tips on how to juggle a writing/posting schedule when life pulls you a million directs, please comment! I’m dying to know how to do better.
